Our Flagship Project: Zero Waste Pineapple Initiative – Jinja
The Problem:
In Jinja District, over 60% of pineapple waste is dumped or burned in open air. This causes air pollution, blocks drainage, and wastes a valuable resource.
Our Solution:
We train farmers and youth groups to turn pineapple peels, leaves, and stems into:
- Organic Compost – Sold to farmers to improve soil
- Eco-Crafts – Baskets and mats woven from dried leaves
- Briquettes – Clean cooking fuel made from dried peels
- Animal Feed – Processed leaves for livestock
Impact Since 2023:
- 40+ farmers trained in 5 sub-counties
- 12 tons of pineapple waste diverted from burning
- 25 youth earning income from eco-products
- 2024 ACFLO Organization of the Year Award
How You Can Support:
Donor funding helps us buy training materials, protective gear, and processing equipment. $500 trains 10 new farmers. $2000 sets up a village processing hub.
Partner with us to scale Zero Waste across Busoga.
